SAFETY TRAINING CLASSES
Offered by MIDWEST

CLASS OVERVIEW
MIDWEST provides “Hands-on Field Safety Training” for Electricians and anyone who may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, burn, blasts, or other electrical hazards. The training focuses on the safety equipment and safety procedures for operating or maintaining high voltage and low voltage (i.e. under 600 volts) equipment and switchgear. The training is prepared in accordance with OSHA Regulations CFR 1910, Title 29, Labor, “Safety Related Work Practices.” The training includes NFPA 70E, Arc Flash Hazard Program, (PC) Protective Clothing, and (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment. The training is important for anyone who may be required to service or operate electrical equipment or switchgear. The students physically use the proper safety equipment to perform various safety procedures.  If you wish to perform additional research on OSHA Title 29, go to the Department of Labor Research Library. MIDWEST's Engineering Department will prepare custom training programs tailored to our customers' needs.

SOME OSHA REQUIREMENTS
► “The provisions of..section 1910.331..cover electrical safety related work practices..for..persons..who have training in avoiding the electrical hazards of working on or near exposed energized parts..and for "those with little or no such training.”
► “Employees..who..face a..risk of injury due to electric shock or other electrical hazards must..be trained.”
► “..employees facing a higher than normal risk of electrical accident..” include Electrical Engineers, Electricians, Supervisors.

SCOPE OF SAFETY TRAINING
 The class combines physical "Hands-On" safety training with meaningful electrical theory to fulfill the OSHA requirements of CFR 1910. NFPA Arc Flash Hazard Program guidelines for proper Protective Clothing (PC) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are included in the training on the use of proper safety equipment. Students physically operate electrical equipment and switchgear using the proper safety equipment and procedures. Emphasis is placed on Proper Safety Equipment, Proper Safety Procedures, Awareness of Electrical Hazards, and the consequence of electrical failures.
